emerald downs, auburn, washington

horsies, bookies, and a birthday partay (for sam)! a balmy afternoon at~..emerald downs @ auburn, wa! a 30 minute drive from seattle.

my $2 wager on 'Bob Stories' (odds 8-1) to show strikes gold :) making up for my two other failed stakes on 'I Believe In U Too' (3-1) and 'Hot Plan' (5-2) (ticket stub below); the winning one being 'My Plan' (9-2)!!

not too bad for my second outing~!..more conversations with moon, jen and michelle follow as we discuss eharmony, the dating scene and public school teacher salaries~

as we watch the parade of the horses/jockeys before the race; hil enlightens me with her criteria for her racepicks; horses with good butts :)

norms eatery and ale house

@norms; a bar in fremont has trival pursuit nites every thursday starting at 8:30pm for about an hour....5$ gets you the sheet to put down the answers; the questions and the ambiance being provided by a wacky DJ!..you swap sheets with your neighbour team after each category and at the end of 4 categories; the tallied winner takes the pot!

24 teams with eclectic names; a couple of lousy categories; one of them to do with patrick swayze..(eeks..about 10 painful trivia's!); we are in the bottom three..(ben, megan, smith and i)!

peshastin pears and cashmere cherries

two beautiful towns peshastin and cashmere dot highway 2 as it winds its way from central washington towards seattle. snow capped peaks in the background, cherry, apple and pear orchards along with the wineries stretch from the lowlands dramatically to the steep faces of the low lying hills~

terraces of neatly lined trees; the time still early for the pears but ripe for the cherries! red dots that stand out from the green leaves/brown branches;a beautiful blue sky; an extremely balmy sun and a green landscape along with grey and brown hues of the mountains; a couple of the peaks topped with white snow; inspires a bevy of extremely positive emotions

as we stop to enquire about cherry picking; we get told that quite a few dont allow because of liability reasons! people fall while reaching for the cherries and sue...bummer!

stop by wineries; eagle creek, and wedge mountain; all closed on sundays! more bummer!

the skykomish and the wenatchee river line the highway for quite a distance till stevens pass..and its back into traffic land; and real world!
