brush with the cops...
so our's amigos car was broken into and a bag stolen in marine drive, in downtowm bombay...we went to register this incident with the marine drive police station. there we had te-te with a local cop (name witheld though he wanted me to give him credits for the following saying)
"
the policeman is denounced by the public, criticized by the preacher, ridiculed by the movies, berated by the newspapers and unsupported by the proscecuting officers and judges. He is shunned by the respectable. He is exposed to countless temptations and dangers, condemned while he enforces the law and dismissed when not. He is supposed to posses the qualifications of a soldier, doctor, priest, lawyer, diplomat and educator with renumeration less than that of a daily labourer."
he was of the opinion that media is causing all sorts of problems!..also was critical of their jobs!..

Krishna (in brown shirt behind him) for vocal support, m chandrasekaran (with the dark glasses (blind) on the right) on violin, t.k. murthy (left) on mridangam and b. s. purushotham (left behind) on kanjira.
the setlist thanks to help from my cousin and momsey were...
1: Vallachi Varnam - Navaragamalika
2: Ragam Chakravaham (Maybe)
3: Ragam Hindolam - Samajavaragamana
4: Ragam Hamsanadham - Kalyanarama
5: RTP - Ragam Thodi (and some side trips to Ragams Valaji, Revathi, Neelambari and Kapi)
6: Marathi Abhang
7: Alwar Divya Prabhadams (Ragams Shanmukhapriya, Shubapantuvarali, Kanada)

The RTP was long...close to one hour and thirty minutes.
the sivaswamy auditorium in chembur fine arts society is a small quaint auditorium and the acoustics are awesome. it is located right by chembur station by the flyover that heads to ghatkopar. chembur used to have a bunch of south indians and still does but the number seems to have reduced..just like matunga and shanmukhananda with everyone gone to the distant suburbs like dombivali and thane...
