power cut this morning...yoooohooooooo
ha!..and the paper said none till august~ and here it goes...for two hours. no warning. no schedule. no estimate on when its coming back. nice...
yeah our newly installed power inverter (battery) kicks in..enough for a couple of fans and light. dont plug in kettle or the toaster dad yells. yeah 16k for it (the inverter and the daily charging cost which does add up) and i cant toast my morning bread with it.
the paper publishes new tariff rates~...the utilities are jacking up the prices. another article declares that state has made tremendous losses and is almost bankrupt. doh!...if the state is buying power at Rs.8/unit, encounters more than 50% transmission losses including theft (effectively the rate becoming Rs 16/unit after accounting for those), comparing to what consumers pay below, thats hella lot of subsidies
poor management, forecasting and planning...the state govt sleeps..for five years, they did squat..the extended suburbs face upto 7 hours a day, the villages further away and into the interiors even worse
the industries suffer, agriculture absolutely in shambles, critical services like hospitals, i don't even want to fathom. many, actually most of the hospitals, save for a couple in the city, dont have generators or inverters for backup supply...yeah, ya don't wanna be stuck in that operation theatre with a major medical operation or procedure while the power cut happens
.....that might give mercy killing a new name!..

customer service whats that?
yeah..we had a guy with no ID who just barged in to check on the new refrigerator we bought...just walked as soon as we opened the door and he saw the unit through the doors. no questions, no asku, no ettiquette..and the biggest no ID on him. on questioning, he said he was from samsung and he came to reset something in the new samsung refrigerator.
some yelling, calling samsung on the phone, absolutely useless. he wouldnt give his name. is this way a professional company like samsung works for service? or have they run out of folks to find to staff such positions?
and another one as well the same day..
so we apply for high speed upgrade for the internet. the guy there to fill a form up and bring it. on getting there, he goes, oh type up a letter describing what needs to be done. and then guess what he ignores the filled up form and says he dont need that...@#@$%^&^#$

steamy bombay~
no more power cuts in the city till august says one utility providing power.. while announcing double digit rate charge increases across the board simultaneously...where did the extra some come from? i wonder. aint new power plants being built here~ was it from faraway kerala? northeast?
..and poor middle class and business..how are they going to afford this?~ as the sun swelters, the rich switch on the ACs while businesses turn on their cheaper generators, can it get any hotter in april? local warming it is...

hello in there
just randomly squatting on youtube i came across a 10,000 maniacs tune i liked long before~ and well...it connected me with situations i am dealing with~ with my parents...and one day myself i am sure~ loneliness...such poignant lyrics~ john prine wrote it back in the 70's over a weekend as he said, i prefer the maniacs cover over some others that have been done.
Ya' know that old trees just grow stronger,
And old rivers grow wilder ev'ry day.
Old people just grow lonesome
Waiting for someone to say, "Hello in there, hello
here's michael stipe from REM and natalie merchant from 10k Maniacs...
busy lives, social transplants, different timezones, rearing kids, empty nest and suddenly it hits ya...where are my friends, what happened to the ones i had, did life really pass by that quick?
dont prescribe me that prozac hey shrink!...thats just for four hours!....say hello again peeps..aint matter if had differences in the past or havent talked for years..~ say hello~
So if you're walking down the street sometime
And spot some hollow ancient eyes,
Please don't just pass 'em by and stare
As if you didn't care, say, "Hello in there, hello."
